So many of you are tanking your website's SEO without even realising it. I reckon this comes up at least once a week, where I'll have a call with someone and they're like, we launched a new website design and now our rankings have dropped. I could bet money on what the problem is before I've even looked at the site. If your website redesign involves removing or combining pages, you need an SEO specialist on board.
If you don't, I guarantee you're gonna mess this up. You might think because you've got a web designer on board that you're not going to, but trust me, they are some of the worst offenders for doing this.
Because normally, the pages that you've deleted or combined are ugly. They've got a lot of content, they're out of date.
Nobody thinks to check if they're ranking and if they're bringing in the traffic. And when you delete them, you don't bother doing anything about it.
You don't redirect it anywhere. You don't try and save the traffic.
Guess who could have helped you avoid this?...
