Right now, everyone is wondering what impact AI is gonna have on jobs and businesses. Who's safe, who's about to be replaced? As someone who owns a digital marketing agency, which might be the most disruptable industry right now, but it's still actively hiring three or four people every month, I just wanted to give my take.

Whether you're a business owner, employee, or contractor, right now, I think you're in one of three situations. I wanna explain what those three situations are and then how I see this progressing over the next few years.

The first situation is you do something that we still need humans to do or society demands humans do for the foreseeable future. So this includes what people are calling the Halo industries. High asset, low obsolescence.

Things that you need to do in person, maybe manipulating things with your hands. Things like construction, the trades, in-person experiences. But also things that AI could do, we just don't want them to do.

For example, my wife's a teacher. I think pretty soon AI can make a pretty good teacher. But do we really want robots teaching our kids?

I don't think so. In some cases, this could also include things like account managers or the main attorney at a practice. If you're the one with your name on the building, you're probably safe for now.

I don't think we'll be letting AI attorneys represent people in court anytime soon. In other words, if Your customers, the law or the laws of physics demand a human do what you do. You're probably safe for now.

Now, all these industries are still gonna be affected by AI, of course, and I do think eventually AI will be able to do everything humans do. But these are the people with the most job security.

The second are businesses and people who do something that they think only a human can do. If you're wondering if you're in this category, you are. These are people who do something creative, or they're in charge of strategy, or they manage a team of people.

They think there's no way AI could do what I do. It's just not creative enough, doesn't have the experience that I have. While a year ago there was some room for doubt, here I think we've seen enough.

It's very clear we'll be able to distill human experience and creativity into an AI model. It also plays in this category. People who have chosen just not to think about it.

Maybe they know AI is coming for their job, or they just choose not to think about the implications of AI. However you find yourself in situation number two, it's not a good situation.

There's good news though, cause you can always leave situation number two and enter situation number three. Situation 3 are people like me. People who realise they could be replaced by AI.

And are leaning into it. Because if you can be replaced by AI, that means you can replace yourself by AI. And then multiply yourself 100 times, a thousand times.

People who are really good at this are incredibly valuable right now. If you are one of these people, I will give you a job offer right now.

For the next one to two years, situation three is the best situation to be in. People in businesses in this category are gonna do very well. But, of course, as they get more and more successful at replacing themselves, we'll need fewer and fewer of them.

The spoils of this productivity will go to a smaller and smaller group of them. And those that become obsolete will start to wish they were in situation number one. I'm guessing a lot of them will transition to situation number one.

And that's it. I don't have any advice for you. Just remember that AI and robots are coming for all of our jobs.

Eventually, hopefully, we find ourselves in the happy version of the future.
