One of the biggest WordPress developers just said he's going all in on EmDash. If you're not familiar with EmDash, check out my other video on it. It was just announced by Cloudflare as the spiritual successor to WordPress.

EmDash fixes all of the fundamental problems with WordPress and is perhaps the first CMS that is truly built with AI agents in mind.

At this point, the only advantage that Word Press has over EmDash is the community of developers and the ecosystems of plugins and themes and page builders that they've created. And that is a significant advantage. However, we're already seeing a ton of excitement from developers, and because EmDash is built for AI agents, it's turning out to be very easy to build or port plugins and themes for EmDash.

The developer I referred to at the top of the video is Yost Devock. He's the founder of the Yoast SEO plugin. He's already written several posts on his blog explaining why he's now building for EmDash and migrating his own website to EmDash.

I highly recommend checking them out. My marketing agency is also now migrating our website to mdash, and we'll likely start building clients websites there too.

In his blogs, Yost explains that he truly wants WordPress to succeed, but for that to happen it would take an entire refactoring. But in his words, the only thing we're seeing from WordPress is a redecorating. What Yoast and the developers who are following him have in common is that they understand the way we're doing website development is changing rapidly.

It no longer makes sense to have humans doing most of the work. And in that paradigm, any viable platform needs to be built with AI agents in mind. It needs to be built primarily for AI agents.

And that's what endash does, right? All the post content is stored as JSON files. Each post type gets its own database, and every field in that post type gets its own column in that database.

And all of this is easily parseable by AI agents. But maybe most importantly, all the documentation is written for AI. It has a dedicated MCP server and a growing library of skill dot MD files.

And all that means that AI can use it natively. You don't have to teach AI how to use it.

So while we still need to wait and see if mdash gets enough developers and users to be successful, in my mind it's already a done deal. One of his blog posts, Yost mentions that we have a chicken or the egg problem, meaning it's hard to attract users until you have developers, and it's hard to attract developers until you have users. But I really don't think this is the case.

There are already a ton of users using AI to build websites. A lot of those Users are spinning up their own CMS. Or just wish they had a CMS underneath that website.

It's just as easy, if not easier, to build those sites on EmDash now, before we have plugins and themes and page builders. And if you're a WordPress developer, there are already skills for porting existing plugins and themes into mdash. The barrier for entry has never been lower, and the opportunity has never been higher.

This isn't a chicken or the egg problem. It's a chicken and the egg opportunity.
