There are two ways to influence how often AI recommends for brands: easy way and a hard way.

When someone goes to ChatGPT or Google's AI looking for a recommendation, the model is going to perform a series of searches looking for recommendations for your brand. For your.

Easy way to get your brand recommended by AI is to show up in the search. And at least right now, for the most part, current AI models are just going to parrot back whatever they find in those searches.

But with newer models because of course, in addition to what the models find is also they already know about your brand and your competitors brand. We call this their primary bias.

Now, right now their primary bias does influence what kind of searches they do and how it evaluates the results of those searches. It just doesn't carry you nearly as much weight as what it finds in the searches and it's much harder to influence.

The only way to influence the primary players is to actually show up in the trade. So instead of just targeting a few specific searches, you have to be prominent across the internet.

Right now it's really hard to justify that effort. But future models might rely more on their primary bias. We're actually already seeing this trend with tragic events.

However, I think there's a reason ChatGPT has no idea how to evaluate search results and decide which sources they should actually trust in sight. This is a huge advantage for Google right now and the reasons I think they're gonna walk away from it.

It's much easier for them to trust the sources that are being used for grounding. Because Google still accounts for over 90% of AI search. I don't think that's changing anytime soon.

I still think the best thing businesses can be focused on is showing up in those search results.
