The number one thing that you need to focus on if you want to rank higher on Google Maps is your reviews. All the other things you've ever heard about Google My Business, SEO are secondary to this.
I'll post something tomorrow that explains exactly how to do that. But let's focus on the reviews. They're the only thing standing between you ranking No.
1 or your competitor.
Once you've done all the other stuff, and they take time, it's not something that you should start working on when you suddenly start caring about SEO. You need to start building them the second you make the profile. And you shouldn't wait for new customers to start building them.
Reach out to all your old customers. Ask them to leave a review. I actually like having a really Frank approach with this, when you just say, this will really help my business rank higher.
Get more people to see it. Please can you leave me a review?
Moving forward, build this into your workflow. Put the link on your invoices. When you finish the job, ask them if they'll leave one.
Schedule dedicated invitations a week, month, whatever it is after they've worked with you or bought your products. Don't focus on it for a week and then not bother anymore. You need to be consistent, because trust me, if you haven't figured this out, your competitors will.
