Some of the easiest SEO wins I've ever seen have come from trending keywords or actually keywords that weren't even trending yet. But we anticipated the trend. I'm gonna give you two different scenarios where I've seen this work.
The first one was a client. We knew there was a TV show coming out soon, and it was gonna be talking about something that was very closely linked to what they offer. Ahead of the episode launching, we published a huge guide on it.
And when the show was on, people were already looking up the topic, finding the blog post, learning more about it. Because we'd got ahead of that trend. Before it actually started trending and being searched, we were already the top result.
And then a lot of the initial leads off the back of that program came through to our client.
And then the second approach was with an e-commerce client. We knew there was a new product coming out soon, but they didn't have it yet. No one else had done this, but we published a product page saying it was coming soon.
And just all the information about the product. That was probably about a year ago. They're still the top ranking page even though the product is now here and it's in insanely high demand.
None of their competitors put up a product page until they'd actually got the product in stock. So that meant that we had months. Where we were getting backlinks, references, mentions about this product when no one else was.
Trending keywords are massively overlooked, which is actually great for you, because it means that you have an opportunity for ranking for them, and they're super easy SEO wins. Most people are focusing on what's already being searched for, how many times it's being searched. But what you cannot anticipate is when something is going to trend and how much you could get from it.
If you don't actually have any, like, new, upcoming, possibly trending soon topics in your industry, there are other ways that you can do this. Let's take something like Black Friday, 2026. Stick with me here, because I know you're thinking, what the hell?
Black Friday is, like, super high search volume. I'm never gonna show up for that. 2026 is the part that's not yet trending, but will be.
No one's currently targeting it, and it is the perfect opportunity for you to get in there early. I mean, honestly, if you're gonna go down that route, there are so many ways you can do this.
