You’ve got to stop trusting that your web designer knows how to do SEO. This is one of the fastest ways to lose anything that currently ranks on Google...
Some of you are putting way too much trust in your web designer when you absolutely shouldn't, because they're gonna tank your entire site's rankings just quickly of context, SEO Specialist, but I'm also a web designer.
I do know how to do these things, and I'm telling you that the majority of web designers do not.
Actually makes me feel abit sick whenever anybody says to me that they've got a web designer doing something new with their website and they haven't got someone in charge of the SEO on board.
Even more so tell me that the web designer has got it all under control, because I just don't believe it.

One web designer redesigned the whole site and removed all of the headings from it.
Rankings tanked almost immediately web design went live, and the last that person was still trying to recover it 9, 10 months later.
Another one I've seen is a web designer who decided to completely restructure the URL's and how all of their categories and products work.
We're talking like 7,000 products.
They didn't do any redirects for this.
Any research into any SEO Benefits from doing particular way.
Luckily, they came on board with us just before this went live.
We noticed it.
And we were able to rectify, but they did see a drop in rankings.
It's just that we were able them back.
Had they not brought us on board.
I don't know if they would still be here.
I've got a ton of stories like this, common theme in all of them is that the web designer, they never own up to doing anything wrong.
They always make out like they know what they're doing, but they don't.
This isn't me saying that web designers absolutely can't know anything about SEO, because I would be a huge hypocrite to be saying that.
What I am saying is you cannot assume web designer does.
And if they say they do, you need some kind of evidence that they actually do.
Save yourself the trouble.
Bring in someone that actually knows about SEO, because it is gonna be worth so much more to you than the headache when your web designer messes this up.
Website redesigns without SEO oversight can damage rankings when headings, URLs, categories, products, or redirects are mishandled.
Require SEO review before redesign launch, including headings, URL mapping, redirects, category or product structure, and indexability.
