Have you seen in your Google Ads accounts that sometimes there's a message that says low search volume next to your keywords? This is a very interesting topic and it's quite important that you understand it if you're doing Google Ads or you're interested in doing Google Ads. Basically what the status message means is that Google have said that there's low search volume, there's not enough searches.

So therefore they're not going to show a text ad when someone searches that word.

Now this is quite interesting and it's actually a bit mind boggling because as we know, Google Ads makes money when people click on ads. So you would think they would show ads for anything. Any word that you bid on, Google should show ads for it.

But no, it doesn't work like that.

This low search volume tells you that if people are not searching for that word enough, Google won't show ads for it. I'm not exactly sure for the reason but this is the way that it is. Now the reason why it's important to know is a few things is No.

1, a lot of times you want to bid on certain keywords and you say this is my top keyword.

You might try it yourself or you might tell your agency. We see this often ourselves. So for example, people would give us a list of keywords and we go back to them and we say, look guys, unfortunately there's low search Volume for these words the ads are not gonna trigger and people don't understand it but unfortunately this is just the way that it is.

Now when you have a low search volume keyword, something like in the example below, there are a few things that one can do No.

1, try search synonyms or different variations of the words to try see if there is search volume. 2, but I wouldn't suggest this is go broad so for example, okay, there's not the word that I'm looking for but let me just go broad and hopefully people will search what I'm looking for this is not the right approach because as we know with Google Ads people are looking for what they want.

If you go broad usually people will come click on your ad, cost you money but they won't convert now sometimes what happens with certain b to B and very niche accounts and very niche businesses is that there's low search volume for all the type of words that a person has presented in that certain instance I would tell a person look at this specific time Google Ads might not be for you

possibly we can try SEO or another approach is looking at social media perhaps LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram if you can target correctly like I said, low search volume is a very specific type of message in your Google Ads accounts when you're doing your keyword selection keep an eye Out for words that have no volume.

Because if you select those words in your accounts, you are going to get this low search volume message when you look in your keywords.
