There's a fascinating psychology trick from the 1700s called the Ben Franklin Effect. See, Ben had a political rival who was constantly criticizing him. But rather than argue, Ben asked him to do him a favor, to loan him a rare book.
After the book was loaned, the hostility dropped and they became close friends.
What happens here is that it kind of tricks your brain. If you've done a favor for someone, you must like that person. And you can use this in your business.
Sam Knight made an awesome post about this on LinkedIn where he talks about how this effect can be used when it comes to getting Google reviews.
By asking for a review, you're asking for a favor. And that provides two big benefits to your business. 1, you're gonna get the review, which of course leads to better rankings and more conversions.
And 2, now that person likes your business more.
So don't be afraid to ask for reviews. People want to be helpful. Use the Ben Franklin Effect and ask every customer for a review every single time.
