If you were wondering what was going on with your Instagram views lately, this is from the head of Instagram 2 hours ago. We recently updated how views are counted on posts and carousels to include views from explore and profile, even if someone didn't tap in. This is clearly making it harder to understand how your content is actually performing.
We're going to reverse this change so that a view will go back to only being counted when someone sees your post in their feed or taps into it from your profile or explore. To be clear, this won't affect reach, just how views appear in insights.
That's what's been going on.
