Stop Panicking About Anonymous Google Reviews
Everybody is freaking out that Google now allows anonymous reviews. I actually think this is a good thing and there's really no reason to freak out. Reality is, is that if you wanna leave a fake review under a different name, you can do so right now.
You just go and create a new Google account.
All of Google's protections for fake reviews, all their filtering, I know they're not very good, but they still apply because under every display name is a real Google account. So Google has the history of that account, they have the activity of that account and so all of their protections against fake reviews still apply.
And so I actually think it's positive because industries like criminal defense lawyers, rehab centers, therapist, this now gives them a way to be able to ask reviews in sensitive industries where people don't wanna share their name.
I don't think this is gonna cause any kind of surge in fake reviews. I think it's gonna be basically the same, but all the upsides.
