I can't believe that in almost 2026, I'm still having to tell people how irrelevant meta keywords are. And yes, I know that some of the website platforms still get you to put them in. I don't understand why, it's irrelevant.

This is in an article from Semrush published in 2025, showing you how little they actually matter to all of the main search engines. Because it's way too easy to manipulate search engine results by listing a load of keywords that aren't actually super relevant to your content. Search engines have adapted and created more advanced algorithms to avoid that.
You're also letting your competitors know what all of your target keywords are. You're listening to all of the wrong SEO advice if you think the meta keywords matter at all.
