If you want your website to rank higher on Google search and feature in ChatGPT answers, you need to work on your domain authority...
You absolutely have to do this if you want your website to show up on Google searches, ChatGPT searches, just any search engine. Every website has a Domain Authority score, and the score ranges from 0 to 100. This score represents how much authority your website has, which is basically how much search engines are gonna trust it.
All new websites start at zero, and the idea is as you work on your SEO strategy, you move up the rankings and gain more authority. This is gonna boost your website so it shows up higher in more competitive search results.
Here's how you move up in those rankings. Your domain's age does matter. The longer your website has been published and your domain has been active, the more likely search engines are to trust it.
Next is your content quality. If you're consistently publishing poor quality content, and that's content that people aren't sharing or consuming, you're gonna find it hard to boost your score. And this one ties in to social signals.
Most importantly, you need to make sure that your website is listed on all the social media platforms and that you have branded profiles for your website. This is gonna show Google that your website is related to a brand and that you're active on social media as that brand. If you can get people to share your website content on these platforms, even better.
And then the big one is backlinks. These are links to your website from other websites. And if you're doing a really good job of content quality and social signals, you can gain a lot of these organically and without really trying that hard.
But this can take a long time, and you can't always rely on it. So while you're waiting for your social signals to improve and you're publishing more high quality content, there are other things that you can do to build backlinks.
Make sure that your website is listed on all the relevant directories. If you're a local business, include local directories in this too. You can also look for guest posting opportunities.
This is when you can contribute content to other websites in exchange for a link. But the best strategy is digital PR. We do this a lot at my agency, and it definitely yields the best results in improving your domain's authority and even generating referral traffic to your website.
