I wanna talk about Parasite SEO. We're gonna talk about what it is, when's the right time to use it, and why it's more effective now than it used to be.
Parasite SEO is just posting content to a website with more authority than yours in the hopes of ranking for more competitive terms than you would normally be able to rank for. So some of the most effective examples right now would be posting content to medium or as an article on LinkedIn or as a post on Reddit. These domains all have a lot of authority.
So unless you're a big brand, your content has a better chance of ranking there than it might on your own website.
Now, of course, the links that you post here are gonna be no follow, so they're not gonna help your website rank. And if you're posting to places like Reddit, you can't really promote your brand or you'll get your post removed. But there's a few ways this can be really effective.
If you're posting truly valuable content to places like Reddit or LinkedIn, people will often look at your profile, and there you can promote your website and brand, and I get people reaching out to me on Reddit all the time by doing this.
If the post targets a keyword that people are searching for, then you can also get additional traffic to that post from Google. But the reason this is even more effective than it used to be is that large language models love these websites. So a lot of brands are now increasing their visibility in these large language models by posting articles to medium or LinkedIn or Reddit just recommending their brand.
Most common version of this is Top X lists. This would be like top brands in your industry. And of course you're gonna list yourself as No.
1. And it doesn't even need to link back to your website because the large language model will find this, they'll see that your brand is recommended No. 1 and just helplessly recommend you to the user.
