There are dozens of things you can do to rank higher in ChatGPT and Google's AI mode. But there's only one way to do it reliably and quickly. At my agency, we've been testing every method we can find to rank higher, but this one is so effective that I really think it's the only one you should care about until you've maxed it out.

We're calling it brand mention building. I'll tell you why it works so well and then how we're doing it.

So when you run a search in ChatGPT or Google's AI mode, it's gonna crawl hundreds of websites to gather as much data as possible. Before it recommends a specific brand based on the industry, it's gonna crawl a completely different set of websites. Now, occasionally, this will be your website or your competitor's website, but 90% of the time, it's third party websites.

And so the entire game now is showing up on the websites that ChatGPT or AI mode is crawling and showing up in a way that makes them recommend you.

So you don't need a link to your website. Most of the time, it doesn't even matter what's on your website. You just need to be on these third party sites with information that makes the language model confident that you're the best choice.

Now, there are tools that help you do this, but up until now, they've been pretty bad and very expensive. So we've been doing this manually, but we just started using a tool that I'm excited to tell you about at the end of this video.

The first thing you need to do is run a bunch of prompts, like the kind of prompts your perspective customers might run. And then track the sources that these AI models look at before making a recommendation. But, of course, these models are probabilistic, and their response is gonna be different every time.

So you have to do this many times to get an average response.

When you do this, you'll find dozens or even hundreds of different third party websites that are commonly referenced when people are searching for your product or service. These specific third party sites will be very different from one industry to another. But also, there won't be an even distribution.

Typically, you'll find three to five websites that are making up most of the sources.

From there, there are two things you can do to influence ranking. You can get yourself onto any of those third party websites that you're not already on. And for the sites that you're already on, you can prove how your brand is mentioned there.

So, for example, these large language models will often reference directories like clutch. And you might be on the page that they look at, but you're ranked 8 because you haven't gotten many reviews. For some businesses, just getting a few more reviews on clutch to bump you up.

To position one or two could be enough to double your visibility in these AI models.

If you're a B to C company, you're likely to see sites like Reddit show up in the sources. In this case, you typically want to identify the specific threads that they're referring to and then leave a comment in those threads. Don't promote your business, you'll get banned from the sub reddit.

Just make a legitimately helpful content, mention your brand and then the term you're trying to rank for in a natural way.

It's also common to see listicles or other types of blog posts for a lot of industries. Sometimes it's gonna be too hard or expensive to get listed in some of these websites. But if you prioritize the ones that are being cited the most and that you can get into without too much cost or effort, it can make a big difference in a short period of time.

And that's what's really exciting about this. Unlike SEO, where you might have to wait three to six months to see results, getting yourself mentioned in these sources will have effects immediately. You should see your visibility go up within a day.

So in terms of tools that do this for you, the leader is definitely profound, and I'm pretty sure they got that name because they are profoundly expensive. The one we just started using is Peak AI. It seems to have essentially the same features as profound and it's less than 20% the cost.

Of course, all this is brand new and we're just starting to dig into it. So I'm planning on sharing everything we find along the way.
