Google is removing billions of pages from its search index. Here's one person with a clear drop at the end of may. Here's another person with a drop at the same time.
Another person. Somebody else. I noticed that millions of pages started d indexing after May 20th, and here's an entire Reddit thread about this D indexing issue.
These are the top domains visited from search engines in 2025. In 2024 there were some user generated content on here, but now the top spots in 2025 are claimed by user generated content platforms. It's way easier to make a post on Instagram or X or Reddit than it is to put up worthwhile content on a website.
So I believe Google is mass deindexing pages from websites to make more room for user generated content. If this sounds scary, it's actually not. Everybody who has had their content removed is reporting the same thing.
The content that was removed generally did not provide any value. It was either not updated, duplicate content it wasn't linked to, the keyword was used in a spammy way. But still, tons of people are freaking out because.
