There's really only one remaining S E O. Hack in 2025. And when I say hack I mean something that you can do easily that isn't obvious and gives you a big advantage.

Back when I started S E O. In 2009, the entire game was nothing but hacks. But over time Google has gotten smarter and now almost all those hacks have stopped working.

Except for this one. And that is simply having search terms you want to rank for in the name of your business. It's actually kind of frustrating how huge an advantage this gets you.

In my experience, it's the only way to reliably outrank competitors that are orders of magnitude bigger than you. And it makes sense, right? If your business name is solar energy company and someone goes to Google and types solar energy company, how is Google to know if a user is searching for your brand by name or just looking for a solar energy company?

However, it even helps you rank for related terms, meaning you'll typically rank higher even for solar panel company or solar energy installer. For some reason the algorithms still aren't smart enough to know when the user is searching for you by name. It'll be interesting to see if these new AI algorithms solve this issue to some extent, but right now it still works very well.

Now if you have a business, it's probably already too late to choose your name, but you can get Some of the benefit just by changing the title of your Google Business Profile. This does technically break Google's terms of service, but so far they haven't done anything about it. Now that might change in the future.

I have heard that Google's been changing the title of certain businesses Google Business Profile, but up until now it's been a pretty safe tactic. And this doesn't give you the full benefit of actually having a company name that includes your primary search terms.

Because when it's your actual business name every single time you're mentioned online, every time someone's talking about you, every time someone links from your business name to your website, you're associating your brand with the terms you're trying to rank for. It has been so far impossible for modern AI's to distinguish the two. So if you're just starting a company or you're willing to rebrand, it is something to consider.

Again, though, we really don't know what the future looks like. Maybe super intelligent A. I.

In the future will make this tactic look like naming your company A A. A. Garage doors.
