You should have a video on the homepage of your website. As a small business, nothing else allows you to immediately connect with visitors on your website and gain their trust. And you need to be in the video.
So a video is so powerful, why aren't more businesses putting a video on their homepage? It's because they think it's hard. I think they need to bring out, like, a film crew and spend thousands of dollars to get a nice video done.
But here's the thing. In 2025, authenticity, genuine connection is way more important than professionalism. In fact, if the video feels produced, if it feels like it's scripted, it's not gonna work.
You already know this as a business owner, right? Once you can get on a call with a client, once you can actually form a human connection, everything goes way easier. The problem is, most people that come to your website are never going to get on a call with you.
A video allows you to form that same connection and build that same trust you would on a call every single person that visits your website. And now you're probably thinking, TJ, I won't even know how to make a video for my website. Don't worry, I'm gonna tell you exactly how to do it.
And it's super easy. Pick a place to record the video. It doesn't matter where I'm on vacation at like an Airbnb, just walking around the neighborhood.
Just pick A place. Do it in your car if you have to. Hold out your camera like this and just talk into it.
But, TJ, what do I say? I'll tell you. Start by explaining why you started the business.
So this might be something like, hi, I'm TJ Robertson. I started TJ Digital because I saw that AI was completely changing how digital marketing is done. But most of these agencies that I was working with just weren't keeping up.
So I started an agency that actually helps businesses build digital marketing systems that work in 2025 and beyond. And it's been so exciting for me to see these practices actually help businesses way more than those old, traditional marketing tactics. So it's gonna be different for your business, but just, you know, think of the reasons you really started it and what differentiates you from your competitors.
Step two, customer reviews or testimonials. The best version of this is to have actual videos of your customers talking about how much they love your product or service. But that's hard to do.
Don't let it stop you from trying. You should definitely try to get those videos. They're incredibly powerful.
But if you can't do that, you can just show some reviews from Google on the screen and tell a little five to 10 second story about how you helped that customer. And step three is your call to action. You tell them the exact next step you need Them to take to get started and what they can expect after they take that step.
So for me, this would be. Just fill out the form below and I'm gonna do a full SEO audit of your website. Show you exactly what will help you get more leads today.
And there you go. Your conversion rates are gonna double or more. You'll build trust with every person coming to your website without having to lift a finger.
And I know what you're thinking again, TJ. That sounds great. I'm definitely gonna do this as soon as I can find some time.
But here's the thing. No, you're not. You're never gonna find the time.
The truth is, you don't wanna find the time cause this whole thing makes you uncomfortable. So instead, as soon as you're done watching this video, just go make a bad one. Go make a bad version of this, and then publish it to your website.
And just be uncomfortable with it. Because one, even the bad version of the video is worth having on your website. Remember, authenticity is way more important than professionalism.
And 2, it's good that you feel uncomfortable. That's gonna motivate you to actually spend some time to make a little bit better version. Just don't overproduce it.
Make sure it's still genuine. I know what you're thinking, TJ. I don't even know how to edit a video or post it to my website or any of this.
Just send Me? The video. I'll edit it for you.
TJ at tj Robertson com. Record it on your phone, put it in Google Drive, email it over to me. I will edit it for you, and I'll even give you some tips on how you can make it better.
All right, I've taken away all your excuses. It's up to you now. Make the bad video.
Increase your conversion rates. Build trust with your competitors. No.
Build trust with your website visitors.
